Week 9: Contrast

February 28, 2012

I just LOVE the vibrant colors of this Bougainvillea!  We can’t grow it  at home – in most years (not these strange, strange weather years) we have at least a couple of weeks of frost, which Bougainvillea does not like.  But here in Arizona – where it has been in the 80’s (!!!) this week –  it is happy as can be. I think its fun to see that this lacy and delicate plant has made friends with the barrel cactus!

I am jealous…I want blooms too! What vibrant color and I love the contrast between the soft petals on the blooms and the prickly cactus base! Beautiful, Vicki!

You shouldcome to Tropical Australia where the Bouganvillia thrives and can run rampant.

Nice contrast between the soft petals of the flower and prickly spines of the cactus.
