Week 16: Sill Life

Click to get a better look

Last week Charlie posted a shot of  the fountain on our back patio. I had no intention of posting another picture of the fountain – really.  But the fountain has been off lately because of the rain, and this little guy has decided it has a better vantage point to the canyon than his usual post on the deck.  He can stand like this for quite some time – wonder if he’s meditating?

Canon Rebel Xsi data: handheld (I did’t know he was gonna sit there so long!); lens EF28-135mm; f/5.6;  focal length 125mm, shutter speed 1/30, ISO 200.

Love your DOF and am so impressed that your image is so sharp being hand held at 1/30! I find his knobby looking coat very interesting…is it like that all the time or is it because of the rain?

Thanks for your nice comments! Honestly, I was really surprised at how well the shot came out, given I was in such a rush to capture him. Plain luck! If I’d know he was going to be there so long, I would have set the tripod up – or at least the monopod. As to his coat – we’ve had a cooler winter than usual, so he’s still hanging on to his winter outfit. And, since it’s been so wet, he’s had plenty of food!
